Kickstarting recess week, our members took the Saturday afternoon off to clean up the coast at Coney Island. Together with Bishan Community Club’s Youth Network, we managed to collect 240kg of trash.

The waste we had collected mostly comprised of plastic bags and bottles, fishing lines, broken nets and ropes. They not only pollute our water bodies, but also pose a great threat to marine life when animals mistakenly consume the plastics or get entangled by fishing gear or plastic bags.

We hope that this experience will spur our members to do their part for the environment by leading sustainable lifestyles and disposing our waste responsibly.
