On Monday, we were honoured to have invited 3 veterans – Dimitri Papacostas, Li Li Lim and Shirley Law from the finance industry to speak and share with our members and attendees at The Mentoring Circle’s panel discussion, Broadening Horizons 2020: Banking and Beyond.
During the session, several topics were touched on to enable our participants to find out more about the banking industry. Some insights shared by our panellists included, but were not limited to, what is it like working at a bank, the different functional units in a bank and the increasing role digitalisation and technology play in the banking industry. Our panellists also spoke of the importance of soft skills, emotional quotient and relationship management, as well as some of the challenges and most rewarding moments they have had over the course of their career. The session concluded with a few pieces of advice for our participants to take as many opportunities that may come one’s way, to learn widely and be adventurous.
