TMC’s Second Circle gathered on a chill Friday evening as we formally welcome the fresh batch of 32 mentees and 32 mentors for Academic Year 18/19.

Our first welcome speech by President, Tan Xin Hao, as he kick-started the mentor-mentee journey on his ideals and expectations of the club moving forward.

Some of our Exco who were present then introduced themselves to the crowd and gave them further insights on their specific roles at TMC this coming year.

Our founding advisors and alumni, Hafiz Kasman and Benjamin Wong, then further introduced the concept of mentoring to the crowd. Ben also took this opportunity to shed some light on a current mentoring research initiative which he is currently working on with senior management in the university! #ExcitingTimes

Andrew, Associate Director of the Office of Alumni Relations(OAR), came forward to address students on the rationale behind the bigger picture of SMU Mentoring and also touched on certain insights with regards to the SMU Alumni Mentoring Program which is ongoing concurrently. The role of OAR is to foster greater affinity between our alumni and SMU faculty, staff and students, as well as to build a cohesive alumni community. Having a broad array of programmes and initiatives to reach out to our 22,000 alumni worldwide ensures the building of strong connections that will last a lifetime. OAR has been the biggest support behind TMC all these while and we remain grateful for everything. Without OAR, TMC would not have even come this far!

And of course, finally a good dinner with even better company under the stars of SMU’s Law School Building 🙂 We are all looking forward to seeing all of them in full strength come 6th October (The Union)! Stay tuned for more updates!
