We kickstarted our recess week with Union Day on Monday afternoon! This was one of our major club events where most of the mentors and mentees come down to get to known each other better. Union Day’s interactions would also be the last time our mentors and mentees will be unpaired! By the end of this week, all our mentor-mentee pairs will be set in stone and they will focus on building each other up for the rest of the academic year.

Beginning the programme was a short introduction by Boon Chuan, Mark and Cecilia from Compass@Campus. Boon Chuan shared about what our mentors and mentees could expect at the workshop happening next year over two full-day workshops. The workshops will be conducted by a group of senior executives, professionals and entrepreneurs who believe in the value of developing future-ready servant leaders who will bring positive impact to our society. Cecilia also shared about her experiences as a mentor, telling us how she has been greatly challenged and enriched by her mentees. The mentors truly embody the spirit of mentoring and are great examples of what we hope our mentors and mentees can be like in future!

After that, things got a little suspicious as we dived into a Murder Mystery to find out who ‘killed’ Daniele?

Fantastically organised by one of our Events Director, Crystal Goh, mentors and mentees were mixed around in random groups and needed to work together to make sense of the clues given to them. This provided everyone a chance to collaborate on a larger scale.

Our EXCO members, Daryl, Dawn, Shawn, Madhu, Kayler, Ian and Chloe were prime suspects for this Mystery.

After two hours of interviewing the suspects, discussing and linking up all the clues, the evidence pointed straight at Chloe who was indeed the ‘murderer’ to blame for Daniele’s death.

Subsequently, we began TMC Tinder. A short one hour where mentees get to speak with mentors and allow both mentors and mentees to figure out who’s their best match. Conversations grew deep and faces lit up! It was hard trying to break everyone up and get them moving to the next part of our Union Day programme.

Cohesion!

Recess week is incomplete without a cohesion! And again we went back to Happen @ Jalan Besar! The unique venue is furnished with a suite of equipment and facilities from karaoke, darts, pool table and FIFA Xbox.

Spirits were lifted and everyone started getting comfortable with each other as if like old friends. The kid in us all stepped out and we definitely had a blast!

And the cherry on top to finish the day were the amazing welfare collaterals designed by our creative powerhouse, Kayler Chong! We hope everyone enjoys their drawstring pouch, file and name tent!

Finally, thank you to all the mentors and mentees who came down and made Union Day possible! We’re looking forward to seeing you guys at the next event! A big pat on the back for our Committee members as well for being important instruments to Union Day as well!

Have a great recess week and all the best to those who still have mid-terms!
